God Evaluation! SPECIAL FORCES (Part 2 of 3)

The GOD SQUAD wants you!

If we are examine ourselves honestly, we will identify our place in the army of God somewhere along the spectrum between a “couch potato” Christian and an “Arnold Schwarzenegger” Christian! Most of us are probably not at either extreme, but a regular, honest self-evaluation can be extremely beneficial to our Christian health!

David went a step further than “self-evaluation.” He asked for a “God-Evaluation” - for God to search and know Him and then to lead him in the way everlasting!

           23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
                 Try me, and know my anxieties;

           24 And see if there is any wicked way in me,
                And lead me in the way everlasting.

                Psalm 139:23-24

Perhaps our own “self-evaluation" will prove to be inaccurate! God’s evaluation will certainly prove more accurate but it is not without a price!

Children, especially boys sometimes pretend to be soldiers when they play army. Girls tend more toward pretending to be ballerinas, or parents when they play with dolls.

This can be fun when we are children, but grown-ups know it is far different to play war than to be in one! It is far more difficult to become an accomplished dancer than to look at yourself in the mirror as a child and dance as the music plays. Any dedicated parent knows that the level of commitment required to raise one or more children is nothing like playing with dolls!

Whether we become mechanics, nurses, doctors, lawyers or CEO’s, we will have to be evaluated by someone at some point! We will never get very far if we are merely playing. So also goes the life of the Christian. We may have fun being a part of a church and socializing with our fellow believers. But how many of us are willing to come to God for a “God-evaluation?”

God does not ordinarily draft people, forcing them into His service. (Relax you Calvinists and Armenians - we don't have time for that discussion!) Instead, He calls for volunteers. Once in the US military, you must volunteer again for special forces training. If anyone desires to go to the next level with God and to be used by God to a greater degree, he or she will have to voluntarily submit to a “God-evaluation!”

The special forces of the United States and "The God Squad," the special forces of the Kingdom of God are not the same. The difference is that God will not only evaluate us, He will come alongside us and even live in us to give us whatever grace we need to prepare for and to execute any mission to which He calls us!

Are you one who is willing to come to God for a "God Evaluation?"

We need not fear that this will be some horrible, painful mistake. When you join the special forces of the US Military, you can never be sure if you will lose your life or things will get out of control. When you join the special forces of the Kingdom of God, you can be certain only what is supposed to happen will happen!

We can never lose by laying down our lives and offering more of ourselves to God!

He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.
