For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.
1 Corinthians 1:21

When Jesus taught His disciples, a large number of others also gathered to hear him. He often spoke to them in parables. Afterward, His disciples came and asked him why.

10 And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”
Matthew 13:10

It has often been said that Jesus was a great storyteller and used stories to win people to the kingdom.

The mind-blowing truth is that Jesus used stories to hide the secrets of the kingdom from curiosity seekers, the uncommitted and the unrepentant among the crowds!

11 He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given."
13 ...Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.
Matthew 13:10-11, 13

Jesus gladly explained the hidden meanings of parables to His disciples!

Atheists often demand that God appear before them to prove that He is real. They miss two facts. One, that God does not answer to any man and two, that God has no pressing desire to reveal Himself to everyone!

Don't get me wrong. I fully believe that God wants all to come to Him. But that is the rub! He wants all to come to Him - but He does reveal Himself to everyone!

God calls us first to repentance, humility and commitment. God gives grace to the humble but resists the proud!

He is not going to reveal His secrets to every casual curiosity seeker! He explains His secret mysteries and hidden wisdom to His disciples!

Trying to understand God without committing to Him can only result in a partial, distorted, incorrect image of Him!

Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
2 Corinthians 3:16

Turning to the Lord to become a disciple is the key. If you wish to understand God, become a disciple by repenting, humbling yourself and committing yourself to God!
